New Food Prices in Buenos Aires: How to Save on Beef, Pork, and Poultry

In a context of constant family budget review, the Buenos Aires Central Market Corporation announced its new grid of offers for the Retail Fair. The prices, valid from today until March 5, present competitive options in key sectors such as beef, pork, poultry, fish, and grocery products. According to the Argentine News Agency, consumers can add to these prices the discounts and bank promotions available at participating stores, using payment methods like Cuenta DNI, MODO BNA+, and Mercado Pago. With the new retail price list in effect from February 27 to March 5, the Buenos Aires Central Market positions itself again as an alternative to beat inflation, especially on volume purchases (3 kg combos) and by taking advantage of discounts with digital wallets like Cuenta DNI, BNA+, and Mercado Pago. Below are the details of the most outstanding offers for you to evaluate if the savings justify the trip.

BEEF (La Peña and Carnes AR Abattoirs) The biggest savings are found in the special ground beef, but only when buying the 3-kilogram combo. Special Ground Beef: $24,000 for 3 kg ($8,000 per kg). Asado: $13,500 per kg. Sirloin and Rump: $17,500 per kg. Loin Ball / Square / Rump Cap: $17,500 per kg.

POULTRY (Cosenza and San Javier Farms) Poultry prices remain very competitive, with whole chicken and two dozen eggs standing out. Fresh Whole Chicken: $3,300 per kg. Free-Range Chicken: $4,590 per kg. Chicken Breast / Cutlet: $8,000 per kg. Thigh and Drumstick: $11,850 per kg (Boneless: $7,900 per kg). Large Eggs #1: 2 dozen for $9,500 ($4,750 per dozen).

PORK (Don Pata and El Argentino) Pork remains the most economical protein option compared to beef. Ground Pork: $4,150 per kg. Pork Leg: $4,500 per kg. Ham: $5,150 per kg. Pork Chorizo: $4,500 per kg. Pork Loin: $7,250 per kg.

FISH (Mar del Plata and El Capitán) Hake Fillet: $8,000 per kg. Sea Bass: $8,500 per kg. Whole Sabalo: $5,700 per kg. Whole Squid: $9,100 per kg.

GROCERY AND DAIRY (Autoservicio Familiar, La Cabaña, and others) Whole Milk (in sachets): $1,200. Cream Cheese: $6,500 per kg (when buying a whole block). Bread: $2,500 per kg. Croissants: $3,500 per dozen. Ravioli: 10 packs for $16,000 ($1,600 per pack). Empanada Wrappers: 5 dozen for $6,300 ($1,260 per dozen).

Verdict: Is it worth it? Yes, it is especially worth it if: You make community or family purchases: Many of the best prices (ground beef, eggs, ravioli, empanada wrappers) require buying several units or kilograms. You use banking benefits: The possibility of adding cashback from Cuenta DNI (on weekends) or BNA+ to these already reduced prices makes the difference with the neighborhood supermarket up to 40%. You are looking for specific cuts: The price of asado ($13,500) and hake ($8,000) are well below the prices in butcher shops and fish markets in CABA and GBA.
